The role of the Employee Communications lead in the UK Comms team is a senior, important and rewarding one. As the levels of trust in traditional structures such as government and the media continue to decline, research shows that employees are looking more and more to their employers for trusted guidance on the issues that are most important to them. And, employees are asking more and more of their employers. At Microsoft we believe in the importance of employee communications and in the need to innovate and refresh the function.
Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will work alongside team members who are responsible for specific products, commercial and consumer propositions, corporate image and reputation and more. Your role will be to align Microsoft’s UK employees to the strategic direction of the company, inspire them and drive pride in working for Microsoft. You will work alongside the company’s most senior UK executives, from the UK CEO down, and will collaborate widely across the organisation to achieve your goals.
This hiring offers Microsoft and the successful candidate the opportunity to think afresh about the role of Employee Communications (EC) in the UK. We are looking for someone who:
  • Is excited by building and leading a new-look Employee Communications function in the UK. Developing an approach from the strategic direction, to the resourcing model and is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to execute the plan.
  • Has a track record of developing strong and collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues
  • Has strong original storytelling skills and knows how to develop activities which deliver strong impact and engagement
  • Has an appetite for innovation in communications formats
  • Sees Employee Comms as an equal and integrated partner to external comms.
