The Airline is an integral part of our customer’s experiences with TUI and as the Engagement & Internal Communications Specialist along with the Engagement & Internal Communications Manager you’ll be responsible for ensuring colleagues in Northern Region Airlines are informed and engaged and great ambassadors of the business ensuring our customers discover their smile when flying with us. Working closely with HR you’ll support the management team in creating a culture that reflects the overall business strategy. A culture that people want to join, love to be part of and hate to leave.
For the managers you partner you’ll provide inspiration, advice, appropriate challenge and support, whilst holding the bar high in relation to all things engagement related, especially internal communications. You’ll ensure activities and communications are of the highest standard, innovative and digital where possible and that they add value. You’ll also work closely with the wider Engagement and Internal Communications team to benefit from their expertise and ensure they benefit from yours, as well as ensure consistency in style and approach.
Please note this is covering Maternity leave for up to 12 months.
What you will be doing
You’ll develop engagement and internal communications plans for each of the areas you business partner. in line with the Northern Region Airline’s Strategy to support the business in delivering the functional and business engagement and internal communication plan. You’ll manage stakeholder mapping and engagement, as well as the communications approach for each key stakeholder group to reflect their interests and needs.
You’ll help leaders in the business area determine the culture, engagement and mind-set change required to drive the business transformation and strategy. Developing ideas and solutions to help them build relationships and engagement, especially with our flying community.
Advising and supporting senior managers on multi-channel communications to ensure that messages are clear, consistent, aligned with the business strategy, helping ensure a consistent tone of is used and communications inspire action or excite colleagues about the future.
You’ll have great relationships with the senior leaders you partner so they seek your expert advice, use you as a sounding board and you easily and natural coach them to be the best communicator they can be. You’ll naturally collaborate with the wider Engagement & Internal Communications Team, to help you be the best you can and deliver the best for Northern Region Airlines.
You’ll define the communications channels and plans needed to engage colleagues whatever their location and role, making use of tools available within UK&I and the Group and help define and shape new tools that innovate our approach to engagement and communications particularly with remote teams.
Change is continual and normal, and you’ll ensure that communications/campaigns are timely, relevant, targeted and engaging. You will champion the role of communications in change activity and ensure alignment in all change communications to internal branding and channel framework approach. You’ll find the most effective way to review the effectiveness of communication channels and activities on an on-going basis.
You’ll also own and manage the key distribution lists for print, real time and face-to-face communications – ensuring they are accurate and maintained. It will be your job to manage and grow a network communication champions to help provide quick feedback on campaigns/projects, get messages out there and road test innovations.
You’ll support wider TUI UK & Ireland engagement and internal communications activities as required and represent the needs of Northern Region Airlines as required, promoting achievements and successes to the wider UK&I audience.
In the event of a business crisis you will play an active part in managing the engagement and internal communications requirements and supporting the wider colleague welfare and business needs.
What we are looking for
- Strong understanding of the drivers of engagement and the most effective ways internal communications activities can drive engagement and performance.
- Solid experience with the strategic role of communication and its importance in major change programmes, as well as day-to-day business performance.
- A good all round knowledge of internal communications processes, methods, systems and technologies, as well as excellent written and verbal communication and bundles of creativity.
- Good ability to flex style and tone to suit different audiences, ensuring key messages are retained and aligned and that corporate stories and vision are brought to life.
- Effective project management skills – ability to cope under pressure and multi-task several small projects/channels (and daily delivery), as well as larger, more complex, projects. Displays effective planning skills, anticipating or adjusting for problems and delays. Maintains a calm and methodical approach during a crisis.
- Good stakeholder management at all levels; a natural collaborator that brings out the best in others, whilst bringing challenge in an open and honest way to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Comfortable with a business-partnering role, that involves coaching and advising senior managers in communication and engagement best practices.
