Job Duties

As Head of Internal Communications & Change you will lead the design, development and implementation of internal communications strategy and execution plans across internal audiences for Group Functions and Group–wide significant change programmes across a wide range of communication channels, including digital, print, broadcast, website, video and film.

In this role you will ensure the employee communications strategy enables Legal & General to improve employee engagement scores whilst partnering, providing guidance and acting as a sounding board and source of communication expertise for Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR), Investor Relations, Public Affairs and the Group Functions to deliver high quality creatively strong content and messaging.

What you will be doing…

Partner with the Group Senior Executives (Chief Finance Officer, Group HR Director, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Auditor) to create an effective narrative and build appropriate Group functions stories, communication strategies and channels to ensure this narrative is well understood
Through collaboration with the Group HR function, create an inspiring internal comms strategy that engages and energises colleagues through a variety of digital and face to face interactions, and provide strategic internal communications consultancy and project support for key business leaders in Group, advising on delivery of employee communications for significant change programs and projects.
Be an advocate for the Group Internal Communications Strategy, ensuring leaders understand the service proposition and operating model, working proactively with senior executives, business leaders and stakeholders to embed the business strategy and vision.
Drive a digital communications approach across Group functions encouraging and advising on best practice and be innovative in the use of digital channels.
Develop a deep understanding of the Company’s strategic goals, performance and audiences in order to ensure employee communications and engagement plans are fully aligned.
Initiate and create innovative employee communications content for use internally including thought leadership, blogs, videos, infographics and other digital content for distribution through appropriate channels including online and through internal Town halls and briefings
Work collaboratively with other Communication Leads (Business Partners) building knowledge of industry best practice to create market-leading day-to-day communications and campaigns and identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and quality of communication.
Support the development of a world class function, working collaboratively to demonstrate ‘one team’ behaviours and fostering a positive working environment, helping to build a coaching led culture.
Skills Required
Key skills required…

Ability to work autonomously, but naturally inclined to seek input and perspective from a wide range of stakeholders – both internally and externally
Strong experience in professional services, financial or corporate communications function – either in an in-house or agency capacity or both
Experience of being a trusted advisor operating at all levels, across complex reporting structures, influencing outcomes
Experience in developing world-class, innovative and breakthrough strategic communications to translate the most complex business requirements, manage change and turn strategy into action
Use creativity and fresh thinking to continually improve internal communications strategy
Ability to engage with leadership teams and senior stakeholders, establishing rapport and trust to successfully establish credibility in the role of expert adviser providing counsel and guidance
Develops strong networks with individuals and drives a collaborative approach across functions
Entrepreneurial, responsive and delivery-focused – able to turn around quality work swiftly and get things done and resilient to changing needs and evolving plans
Curious – keen to understand the ‘bigger picture’ and gather information / make connections to stay informed
Excellent writer with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
