Position: Internal Communications Manager
Location: Daventry

Grade: £30,000
Contract Type: FTC (12 Months)

For the role of Internal Communications Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that you implement internal communication activities based on a regionally aligned plan and measures its effectiveness. Works within the communication framework, to ensure the right message is communicated to the right audience at the right time. Ensures all internal communications activity across the region is aligned to the plan, supports our strategic objectives, leverages central platforms and tools and adheres to the corporate brand guidelines.

Key Responsibilities in this role will include;

  • Works as part of team to deliver internal communication activity/content across the business through a variety of communication channels.
  • Supports the Senior IC Manager to embed and develop the IC Channel Strategy for DSC UKI including sound governance, processes, tool and templates.
  • Measures the effectiveness of communications delivered and recommends improvements.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the business to develop and maintain a calendar of activity.
  • Provide communication support for small and medium projects across the UKI.
  • Support the Senior Internal Communications Manager (Editorial & Channel Management) with key communication activities.
  • Implement the Internal Communication Plan for DSC UKI including the co-ordination of a centrally managed calendar of activities to ensure alignment of content across the region and ensure a flow of timely, relevant and high impact communications.
  • Ensure the core UK&I messages are delivered through clearly defined tools and channels including the weekly Wrap Up, myMag and Town Halls.
  • Write copy and edit content for a variety of different channels across digital and traditional media.
  • Ensure internal communication activity across the region adheres to the corporate brand guidelines and communications framework
  • Maintain IC reports and dashboards.
  • Manage the team’s mailbox and contact tracking process and ensure SLAs are met.
  • Maintain the team’s distribution lists on a monthly basis.
  • Work with the regional communicators to create a highly effective internal communications function, role modelling ‘one team’ behaviours.
  • Support the successful rollout of small and medium sized projects in the region.
  • Share best practice and learning with colleagues and seek continuous improvement opportunities for own and team members development.
  • Promote collaboration and ideas sharing by helping colleagues to work more effectively together
  • Develop strong relationships with all teams and at all levels across the organisation
  • Build trust and credibility as a communications expert to the UK&I leadership team, providing sound advice and effective comms planning for key stakeholders/project owners.
  • Support the Senior Internal Communications Manager to develop and maintain the digital eco-system in the UKI including myNet, Yammer and eShare.

Key skills and experience in this role will include:

  • Experience in an internal communications position for a customer led organisation or communication agency
  • Experience in a large national or global corporate organisation
  • Transportation / Logistics industry or sector background preferred, but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Experience of intranet publishing and of content management systems
  • Experience of developing innovative and creative solutions to communications issues
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven ability to influence across different levels of the organisation and to understand the drivers so that effective communication plans can be implemented
  • Ability to develop communications plans to support small and medium projects
  • Proven capability to deliver under time pressures and shifting priorities
